There’s something about New Year’s that engenders excited optimism – and a deep spirituality that makes me thankful for the past and secure in my faith to face the challenges of the future.

I prefer not to think of Hinduism as a religion, but rather as a philosophy – a recognition that it truly is Sanatana Dharma, the eternal religion/cosmic order, that (as per the Rig Veda) speaks of One Truth, though it may be realized in many ways and be called by many names.

So this first post of 2015 reflects my hope for Hindus everywhere: that in this coming year, we are better understood in the global society and that our children are made prouder for being part of the oldest living religion in the world. In the words of Lisa Miller, in her 2009 Newsweek Article, “We Are All Hindu’s Now.”
